The Backpack Initiative is a program that was established to assist district students in need of weekend food supplies. The program is open to any student currently enrolled in Shaler Area School District in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Each family participating in this program will receive a bag packed with child friendly, single serving snacks and easily prepared meals each week.

Current Student Transcript Request

Please complete the form below separately for each college/trade school/scholarship etc. that needs an OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT.  An Official Transcript will be sent directly to specified recipient. If you would like us to send any letters of recommendation (LOR), please email your counselor to request the LOR be sent as well.  Transcripts will be sent within 10 days of request.  DO NOT use this form for any school you are applying to on the Common App.

Please complete the form below for PDF of your UNOFFICIAL transcript. You can use this PDF for EVERY scholarship requesting an UNOFFICIAL transcript.  The PDF file will be sent for your use. PLEASE ONLY SUBMIT ONE REQUEST PER QUARTER.  Grades post to the transcript about 1 week after report cards are issued, if you would like your most current grades to be included, please wait to request until then.

Free/Reduced Lunch- extra benefits if you qualify!

The District offers healthy meals every school day. Children need healthy meals to learn.

There are other benefits for students at the secondary level that are only available to families who have applied and qualify.  Some of these additional benefits include:
-AP Testing Fee Reduction
-ACT/SAT/PSAT Testing Fee Waivers
-College Application Fee Waivers
-50% fee reduction for summer school
-Continued free/reduced meals if funding is exhausted prior to the end of the school year
-30-day grace period where benefits continue at the start of the next school year

Even if you did not qualify in a previous year, family income levels and requirements change, so we encourage you to reapply this year. For those families that qualified in a previous year, a new application for each year must be completed per government regulations.

• Parents/Guardians are able to submit a Free or Reduced-Priced Meal Application for their school-age children at any time throughout the school year;
• If you previously applied for this benefit and did not qualify during the school year, you may apply again should your income change at any point during the school year;
• If you apply for free or reduced-price school meals online through COMPASS, you do not need to submit a paper application.

How to Apply:
• For the fastest way to apply and to see if you qualify, is located at: http://www.compass.state.pa.us/
• If you do not have access to apply online, you may complete a paper application and return it to Sue McElhinny @ Central Offices, 1800 Mt. Royal Blvd, Glenshaw, PA 15116.
-If you need additional information or need assistance with the online application please contact Sue McElhinny at [email protected]  or LeeAnn Guido, SAHS social worker at [email protected].
