Congratulations to the Shaler Area High School Class of 2023. We are deeply proud of all you have accomplished throughout your time in school. This moment is a milestone that deserves to be celebrated. 

In his commencement address, Dr. Timothy Royall shared with the graduates,

“I know that this senior class is full of young men and women ready to change the world. I would like to congratulate the class of 2023 for persevering over the past 4 years to achieve this significant accomplishment. You are an amazing and resilient group of students. Your journey through school began way back in 2010 as a kindergarten student. A whole array of personal choices, social decisions, and environmental factors led you along a path to graduation. At times, situations beyond your control interceded and appeared to take away your individual choice. Your high school years were dramatically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in school closures, cancellation of activities, and remote instruction. You were left searching for a good rationale in the midst of an irrational medical crisis. It wasn’t your choice to stay at home, however,  it became your choice how you would react to this challenging situation. At such a young age, you have shown positive characteristics that will be incredibly beneficial throughout your lifetime.

Please remember, you have a lot to offer—and the world needs you.  
One day at a time, you can make it a better place.  
Keep pressing on, stay resilient, and find your positive purpose in all of this.”
