Shaler Area names new middle school assistant principal
Janel BiagiarelliShaler Area is proud to announce Janel Biagiarelli has been named Shaler Area Middle School’s new assistant principal. The school board approved Mrs. Biagiarelli to the position during its July voting meeting. 
 
Mrs. Biagiarelli replaces Dr. Shannon Howard who was named the building’s new principal last month.  
 
“I am thrilled to join the administrative team at Shaler Area and to partner with Dr. Howard to continue to lead the middle school in a positive direction,” said Mrs. Biagiarelli.
 
“I look forward to maintaining the high standards in the middle school and supporting the students in their social, emotional, and academic growth. As a proud Shaler Area graduate, it is a dream come true to give back to the students and community that I love. I am eager to grow in this profession and to lead others in a positive manner with academic excellence and strong citizenship goals as the focus.”
 
Mrs. Biagiarelli has 15 years of experience in education as a middle school teacher and primary-level reading specialist. Since February 2022, Mrs. Biagiarelli has served as the middle school’s interim assistant principal and worked to build positive relationships within the school community and help develop school programs in alignment with the vision and goals of creating a positive academic environment for students.
 
Mrs. Biagiarelli has a bachelor’s degree from Point Park University and a master’s degree from Edinboro University. She received her principal certification from Point Park University.
 
Mrs. Biagiarelli resides in the Avonworth School District with her husband, two children, and their beloved dog Bella.
