Scott Primary Recognized for Creation of Positive School Culture through PBIS
Scott Primary School has received Tier I Fidelity for their Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports program. This program has become a cherished part of the school culture at Scott. The educators will be recognized at the PA PBS Network Implementers Forum in November 2023.

The PBIS program at Scott is modeled on the house system, such as in Hogwarts. When students arrive at Scott, they are sorted by the sorting hat into one of six houses: Amicus (the house of kindness), Tiyaga (the house of perseverance), Fidelis (the house of trustworthiness), Ami (the house of friendship), Quantum (the house of respect), or Officium (the house of responsibility). Teachers and staff also belong to houses, which strengthens bonds throughout the school. The virtues of the houses become points of discussion that enrich holistic student development.

Dr. Bryan O’Black, Deputy Superintendent of Schools, shared, “This recognition speaks volumes to the culture that is being created at the earliest stages of our student’s school career.  Our PBIS program not only at Scott Primary but across the District has become a tremendous point of pride. This group continues to push forward, refine the house system, and develops new, forward-thinking approaches to helping our students pave the way to success at Scott.  Simply put, Scott Primary has become a model of excellence for providing support to promote the success of all learners.”
