High school students complete Positive Painting Project installation

Shaler Area students completed the main installation of their Positive Painting Project at the high school this month just in time for Mental Health Awareness Month.

This school beautification project started in January with close to 120 students and staff taking a break from midterm and final exams to paint blank canvases. The canvases were then screen printed with positive messages of belonging, mental health awareness, and suicide prevention, including:
  • You Matter
  • It’s OK to Not Be OK
  • Hold on to Hope
  • No Feeling is Final
  • Never Ever Give Up
  • You Are Not Alone

Students installed the main art display outside the high school library entrance in one of the main corridors of the building. Additional canvases will be installed individually around the school. Students hope the project will spread positivity and hope as well as reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.
